MISSION / DHARMA
Take your hunger to learn something more and turn it into nourishment. Turn it into something you can feel, like your own volume and all of your sides in every posture.
The Benjamin Sears Yoga Mission:
+ to provide you with a broad yet cohesive yoga education that empowers you to transcend brands of yoga and develop a personal practice that will stand the test of time and become a shoulder to lean upon through the peaks and valleys of life. More than learning the sequences, this means a way of seeing and understanding different practices and bodies under whatever circumstances you encounter them.
+ to prepare you to teach and practice 2 proven therapeutic vinyasa sequences right away. Having a scaffold to find your voice is indispensable.
+ to hold space for you to go deep inside yourself; you will immerse in both traditional and modern breath practices, journaling work, and develop new frameworks for self-reflection.
+ to hold space for you to connect with other soulful people. One of the best parts of training is making friends from all over the world and supporting each other.
+ to give you the tools to hold those spaces for yourself as a teacher and a student. See your strength and learn to use it. See your patterns and learn to transcend them.
+ to provide you with a universal paradigm for effective teaching. Communication is crucial. This training will lead to you find your own voice, your own way. Every painting starts with a canvas.
+ to inspire you to continue your research. You'll step out of this feeling strong and motivated.
+ to immerse yourself with great spirit in your training and take your role as a student seriously. The most effective teacher never stops learning.
+ to use your training to create new positive patterns
+ to believe in yourself
+ to refrain from drugs, alcohol, and legal stimulants (caffeine, etc.) throughout the duration of your training

+ Asana (Yoga Postures):
Master the basics to develop a strong practice and guide others – "learn your dog, dude." + Dhyana (Meditation Practices)
+ Kriyas (Yogic Cleansing & Empowerment Practices)
+ Extended morning comprehensive practices
These are the heart of the training. In a small group setting we will use variable techniques to ensure that you understand and the concepts essential to therapeutic and invigorating practice. The sequences will be used as the framework for dissection and expansion of postures and principles, and while you're warm, we'll get you assisting each other as time progresses.
+ 2 Sacred Geometry Vinyasa sequences
+ Nutrition, Ayurveda & Marma Therapy
Nutritional fundamentals via evolved wisdom. Master Marma Ayurveda practitioners Damien Hagglund & Katie Grossman distill the wisdom of the past in a way that is relevant for active people in today's world. Food is your friend, and nourishment is important. This module is truly rare due to the collaboration between Benjamin Sears & Damian Hagglund. Damien, who grew up on an ashram in India but has worked with Westerners for the last decade, brings a unique and balanced perspective to the integration of ancient wisdom and modern science. In addition to Ayurveda-guided nutrition, you will learn pressure points to relieve, for example, back pain and constipation.
+ Functional Anatomy
A two-fold process: the anatomy course you will study online before training and the hands-on work during the immersion.
+ Teaching Methodology:
Simple, effective and honest communication in your real voice. No theatre here, our teaching labs apply just enough pressure to make diamonds. You will be teaching in real time during the training.
How to go deep safely in practice and teaching (Vinyasa Krama), and how to tailor practices for specific needs and therapy.
+ Intro to Handstands & Active Mobility
Learn the intelligent foundations that ensure progress and keep you and your students safe. Everyone has a starting point. An inversion practice can truly be for everyone.
Learn and practice transformative self-reflective writing - Raja Yoga for the modern yogi, or, as one of our students put it: "some powerful sh*%"
+ Philosophy & Tradition
Know the basics and how they resonate in today's world. This is a powerful aspect of this training in particular due to the collaboration between Benjamin Sears & Damian Hagglund. I believe that we learn by practice – whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living, the principles are the same. Practice counts. I’ve spent most of my life sweating, rolling, stretching, dancing - in some way simply connecting body and mind because this integration is where I feel empowered. I think I can help you feel this. When I discovered yoga in 2002, my practice became a therapeutic refuge from a lifetime of intense training and the injuries that inevitably come from a pursuit that puts performance first and wellness second. I still wouldn’t trade a minute of it. Inspired by the healing and self-reflection of yoga practice, I have found a way to teach dance and movement that is not only accessible to all kinds people but also delivers the same type of profound physical and spiritual therapy as yoga.
I bring the balance of precision and joy from my dance background into yoga and I reveal to my movement students how precise movements are the gateway to freedom. Everyone should be able to discover how practice reveals the unique beauty of the way his or her body moves and the joy of that freedom. I'm honored to teach at LUX – it's a magical place to improve your body's vocabulary.

When Damian was 19 he met Dr. Madusudan Ray, while on a search for relief from sciatica & IBS. Since leaving his studies in India in 2004, Damian has dedicated his life to serving others by sharing his experience and knowledge of Ayurveda all over the world. “I’m so inspired, my body feels great, I feel open & light. So many things have shifted. I so appreciate the way the course was put together, the support, the love, the compassion, the knowledge….. I’m blown away how much information I’ve received in two weeks. “ - Roxanne, Pasadena, CA
"I walked in naive, scared, and very uncertain, but hopeful to find something more. Not only did they [Ben & Tatiana] exceed all expectations... they’ve taken it to a deeper level to understand all of the different levels of yoga and all of the things that come with it. The people in this training became like Family. To Ben & Tati, it’s changed me and inspired me and I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned." - Kristine, Calgary, Canada
"We came with no expectations….but it’s been amazing. Not in my wildest dreams did I imagine we would learn this much, both on a physical and personal level. The way my yoga has developed during these few weeks is amazing, I never thought that could happen. Ben & Tatiana are both beautiful individuals and good role models. It’s been an incredibly healing experience". - Lina & Daniel, Sweden
"In 15 days, not only has my practice become rock solid, but I’m connected to the most profound sense of purpose. I knew there would be no bullshit and there would be a strong foundation but they have above and beyond delivered. I can’t speak highly enough about this experience. It’s been truly life changing. What they’ve given us is our own personal power, and that’s a limitless fountain" - Nilya, NYC
"I was nervous coming into this training and wasn't really sure what to expect. This was my very first YTT. I don’t even know where to begin with how amazing this experience was. I work in the healing arts, so am constantly surrounded by esoteric healers and have had many “healing” sessions and attended many "healing" retreats. Of my many years in the world of wellness, Ben & Tatiana are by far, without a doubt, the most profound healers I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing space with. Their ability to hold space for transformation and foster growth in each and every individual is incomparable. They are both awe inspiring. This has been a truly life changing two weeks and I can’t wait to share this gift that Ben & Tati have given us!" - Morgan, Miami, FL
How proficient in Yoga do I have to be?
This training is much about learning how to balance sustainability and intensity in a complete practice. Much of the work for some is, ironically, unlearning common mistakes that lead practitioners to practice postures without the details that make them both therapeutic and invigorating. This training will be physically and mentally challenging regardless of your level of experience. You need to show up ready to do to the work. We feel that one of the responsibilities of a teacher is a solid (not necessarily acrobatic) practice.
